About DVLMF
Disabled Veterans' LIFE Memorial Foundation DVLMF
The DVLMF (American Veterans Disabled for Life Memorial) was established through a federal law signed by President Clinton in 2000. The Memorial will be completed in the next several years on a two-plus acre site in full view of the U.S. Capitol and across from the U.S. Botanic Gardens. By law, all donations must come from the private sector—no public funds may be used. The Foundation has raised over $25 million for the $65 million project to date. It was established in 1998 through the combined efforts of philanthropist Lois Pope, Foundation chairman; Mr. Arthur Wilson, National Adjutant of the Disabled American Veterans and Foundation President; and the late Jesse Brown, former Secretary of Veteran Affairs and the Foundation's first executive director. The Memorial will be located on a site adjacent to the nation’s capital building. For additional information on the Memorial please click here

Free Fundraising Kit for Disabled Veterans for Life Memorial
The Hats Off to Veterans program includes a component for groups interested in promoting awareness efforts towards disabled veterans issues. Groups may opt to fundraise for the American Veterans Disabled for Life Memorial Foundation (DVLMF) by selling hats in conjunction with their “Hats Off” card writing event. Manhattanville My Soldier is donating the hats, and all proceeds from the event’s hat sales must be donated to the American Veterans Disabled for Life Memorial Foundation (DVLMF). The Foundation is building the American Veterans Disabled for Life Memorial in Washington, DC. The Memorial will be the first-ever living memorial specifically for disabled American veterans.
There are three million living disabled American veterans, including over 15,000 from the current war on terror in Iraq and Afghanistan. Those numbers grow daily. “The Memorial will honor those living disabled American veterans and those that have passed as well. The American Veterans Disabled for Life Memorial will not only be a symbol to honor those who have sacrificed for our freedom and democracy, but also a place for reflection and will educate all people that war is not just about bullets and bombs but about human life,” said Lois Pope, co-founder and chairwoman of the DVLMF.
